Giclée (fine-art printing)

Giclée is all about printing artwork. Images are created from high resolution digital scans of artwork and can be printed onto any type of paper that we have, including: canvas, fine art, and photo-based paper. Giclée prints look like real artwork.

Why Giclée?

Quality
The quality of giclée prints rival gelatin printing processes and traditional silver-halide. Giclée prints are commonly found in art galleries, museums and photo galleries. Giclée prints look like real artwork and in many cases, can look very close to the original (if that's what your looking for).

Practical
Giclée prints are advantageous to artists and photographers who wish to reproduce their art as needed or on-demand. Once artowork is digitally archived, additional reproductions can be made at a reasonable cost. Digital files will not deteriorate over time. Digital scans can be reproduced to almost any size and onto various papers/media, giving artists and photographers the ability to customize prints for their needs or for their clients.

Popular
It is common to find giclée prints at auctions selling for thousands of dollars or being displayed in galleries, homes, museums and corporate offices. When you go into a store selling artwork, you're probably looking at giclée prints.

The Process

1. Choose Paper
We have three kinds of papers you can choose from that can be used for printing your artwork. The paper you choose really depends on the actual artwork and what you are trying to acheive. If you are not sure what kind of paper you want, please contact us and we can recommend one for you. You can also come into our store and see some samples. It is a good idea to bring in the artowork you want printed so we can see which might suit you best. In many cases, we can make giclée prints look very close to the original if that's what your looking for.

The papers we have are:

2. Scan all Artwork
All artwork that you would like printed must be digitally scanned first. We suggest we scan it for you as we have some of the best scanners in the industry and we properly prepare your files to be printed at whatever sizes you specify. We can scan artwork up to 20x24 in size (we print up to 40x72).

3. Restoration/Editing*

If you want your artwork edited in any way, we can do that. We can restore your artwork from signs of age (scratches, artifacts, color).

4. Printing
We create giclée prints using a pro Epson printer that produces incredibly detailed prints for all kinds of artwork. We can print up to 40x72.

5. Finishing Services*
We recommend using our finishing services for your prints. This is where we take your prints and help to make it last long and apply any final touches before its release. Our finishing services can truly make giclée prints more attractive and longer-lasting.

If you are going to be framing, we suggest you get those prints mounted. If you don't get your prints mounted or framed, the paper will naturally start to curl over time. You can also get your prints laminated to make them last longer and more scratch-resistant. Lamination is ideal for archival and for display in public or outdoor enviroments.

Contact us for more details and/or recommendations.

*We may keep images on servers for less time.
